Posted: May 19, 2015Just found this old picture from last year when we got 3 GT2s together for a drive out, had a stop off to wash them down before going on to a car event.
Posted: April 23, 2015The GT2 has been sat in the garage as I've been a bit busy with work, house renovations and getting to know the Cayman R.
Posted: March 19, 2015This afternoon I collected the Cayman R from the local(ish) Porsche Centre.
Posted: March 17, 2015Today I made the 300 mile round trip to pick up the GT2 after the starter motor's epic fail on Saturday morning.
Posted: March 16, 2015Following on from the previous post I was due to meet up at 6am on Saturday morning with 7 other GT2s and a range of other Porsches so that we could drive together to the Porsche Club GB open morning at Porsche Centre Reading.
Posted: March 16, 2015On Friday I took the GT2 down to Reading Porsche (a nice 140 mile drive!) so that I could get the MOT sorted out, have the oil changed and get it checked over before the GT2 meet up the next day (also at Reading Porsche Centre).
Posted: March 12, 2015I went to see the Cayman R yesterday to give it a final check over before collecting it. The Porsche Centre had agreed to paint the front PU (plastic bumper section) to tidy up the stone chips, put the PORSCHE decals back on the sides and also tidy u ... read the rest
Posted: March 3, 2015As you can see from previous posts the GT2 has been sat outside for the last week or so whilst work is being done on the garage.
Posted: March 2, 2015We were having some works done on our garage last week and the driveway was taken up with skips and other stuff so the GT2 had to spend the week in the garden. I bought a nice new cover for it so it's been protected, I assumed that the battery would ... read the rest
Posted: March 2, 2015I've been thinking about adding a car alongside the GT2 for some time now, main reasons being:
Posted: February 26, 2015We're having some work done on the garage this week and the entire driveway is needed as part of it, so our two cars have been relegated to the garden.
Posted: February 17, 2015Second drive of 2015!
Posted: November 20, 2014(photo courtesy of Mercedes Benz website, that's not me and I drove the saloon model, but it was white)
Posted: November 20, 2014At the recent PistonHeads meet at Mercedes Benz World near Weybridge I met up with 3 fellow GT2 owners and we convoyed a short distance (don't want to put too many miles on them) to the event. It was great to get 4 of the beasts parked up together as ... read the rest
Posted: November 20, 2014Not a massively interesting blog post but I thought the size difference between the GT2 and a new Range Rover was quite comical. There are 3 996 GT2s parked alongside my car (from a recent PistonHeads meet) and the Rangey choose my car to square up a ... read the rest
Posted: November 19, 2014... and it passed with no issues at all.
Posted: November 19, 2014I'm going to revive this old blog to create a kind of "long term test" report for the cars I'm currently running, the 2008 997 GT2 and 2011 Merc R300.
Posted: October 4, 2012It's been a while since I've blogged on here, been busy with work and finally getting round to all those DIY jobs I said I'd do a few years ago.
Posted: April 12, 2012It's been a while since I blogged on here, the reasons being two fold 1) crushing laziness 2) been working like a dawg.
Posted: January 19, 2012Lately the rattling from the engine has been getting more audible, especially when it's cold. I asked Audi about it when it was serviced last month and they said that they could hear it and that it's perfectly normal for that engine! I'm no mechanic ... read the rest
Posted: January 19, 2012The Cayman is booked into Porsche Reading to have a free inspection this weekend. A chap I know from when I used to be Porsche Club GB (yes I know, don't take the piss) has organised it. Basically you get a technician to go around your car with you u ... read the rest
Posted: December 16, 2011Winning the award for best long termer for B-ROAD THRASH is the Porsche Cayman. Autocar’s road tester Matt Prior describes it as “one of the best legal mood-enhancers money can buy."
Posted: December 7, 2011The A6 has started to complain that it's within 100 miles of needing a service, so it'll be going in on Friday. Luckily Friday is exacly one year on from when I bought the car so it's technically still under the 12 months Audi warranty, they've said ... read the rest
Posted: November 8, 2011Over the next 4 weeks both the cars need to be taxed, the A6 needs an MOT and a service and the Cayman will need its first MOT in December. It's going to be one of those months where you spend a lot and get very little in return. I'm hoping both cars ... read the rest
Posted: October 21, 2011This morning I went over to National Windscreens in Slough to have my cracked windscreen replaced. All was well until the chap inspected my car and realised that the screen Porsche had sent didn't have the antenna wires for the Sat-nav inside. Fair p ... read the rest
Posted: October 20, 2011The A6 is often overlooked in my blog, mainly because it doesn't go wrong, it just simply starts every time, puts the miles on and doesn't complain about anything. We've had it 11 months and driven 12,000 miles now and it's got through 2 oil top up b ... read the rest
Posted: October 13, 2011On the way back from Spa in the Cayman on Monday night I was making good progress through Belgium when I heard an almighty bang/crack, looked down in the corner of the windscreen and there was a massive chip, ok I thought just about repairable. I the ... read the rest
Posted: October 7, 2011Next week I'll be taking the Cayman to Spa for a day on the legendary F1 track. I took the car in to Porsche today to have an oil change (it's been 5000 miles and 11 months since the last), to have the £1.20 exhaust vacuum pipe clips replaced and a ... read the rest
Posted: October 4, 2011Had this in an email from a well known car buying website earlier:
Posted: September 20, 2011Took the Cayman there yesterday for the 111 point check and warranty renewal as it looks like I'll be keeping the car for a bit after deciding not to go with a 996 GT3.
